Malignant
Mesothelioma is a rare cancer of the lining of the lungs (pleura). About
2,000 cases occur every year in the United States. It is not
a lung cancer.
It occurs most commonly in individuals who have been exposed to
asbestos. Symptoms include chest pain, difficulty breathing, lumps
in the abdomen, weight loss, pain in the ribs.
Mesothelioma has a poor prognosis.
Recently, Malignant Mesothelioma has been the source of numerous
litigations. Workers who were exposed to asbestos in the past,
sue their former/current employers for allegedly not properly securing
their work environment.
