Ingredients
for Dressing
¼ cup apple
cider vinegar
3 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp vegetable oil
½ tsp celery seed
¼ tsp salt
Ingredients
for Slaw
4
c cabbage slaw mix
2 medium firm, red apples, cored and coarsely
chopped (makes 2 cups)
1 c diced celery
½ c sliced almonds, toasted
Directions
For dressing, mix together
vinegar, sugar, oil, celery seed and salt in small
bowl, whisk until blended with fork or whisk.
For slaw, place slaw mix
in large mixing bowl, add apples, celery and almonds.
Pour
the dressing over slaw, toss to coat. Cover and
refrigerate at least 2 hours to allow all of the
flavors to blend. This recipe makes 14 servings.
One serving is ½ cup of slaw. There are
only 3 grams and 60 calories per serving, not
to mention only 8 carbs. This is a great summer
recipe for cookouts, picnics and barbeques. To
add a little crunch, you could add some uncooked
noodles (ramen or other types). You can also cut
the apples into shapes and place them on top for
a colorful garnish, or you could also add other
fruits, depending on your tastes. The best apples
to pick for this recipe are Braeburn, Gala or
Red Delicious.
